I’d wish to buy a motorhome if I were rich,
A model like the ones I used to read about the facts,
Having all the accoutrements of a classy ride,
Put together the way they should be without using tacks…
I would drive my diesel beast out west into great expanses,
Park for the most part where I please, if allowed,
Maybe able to see the canyons of the southwest,
And the snow topped mountains of the north,
And I’d like to once see a real desert, like Death Valley,
Not forgetting to mention my desire to see the Pacific…
Never owned a motorhome. Always traveled by car and often slept in it or by the roadside with just a blanket because I didn't like confining sleeping bags. one night, finding no grass in Dayton, Nevada, the former capitol of the state, I slept on a roll of chicken wire fence, thinking all night there may be a rattlesnake living under it.
You are right about the mountains, the vistas, the forests, the valleys, lakes and streams. But the desert? If you could only have been with me the thousands of miles of desert driving I've done, you would find it to be just hot, dusty, and dry with very little to see unless you are in the Sonora Desert in Arizona where the cactus can be quite beautiful, especially when they are flowering. The only thing worse than driving through the desert for days would be walking it. How the early explorers and settlers made it across those vast expanses without good water is nearly unbelievable (many didn't).
From the Cairo airport, you can look out on the Sahara. And all you can see is, endless.
Eh . . . I've lived on the Atlantic, and the Pacific. I've ventured into the bitter cold of Wyoming and yep, even had my fill of Death Valley, never mind the swamps of south Louisiana. I wasn't rich, I was just young and had the wanderlust. Yep, playing the Powerball is something I religiously do each month. There are still things I want to do which take money.
While some of us dream of wondrous things, some don't have the brain to think of any. How lucky we are to have such depth, rather be caught in the rut of no imagination. xx
