Each summer you get on this, and yes I understand tourist can be very destructive to your pristine beaches, et al. Still, they come bringing money which keeps the city's budget in good shape. If I lived there I might be singing the same blues song, but I somehow pretty much doubt it. My take on it would probably be the tourists were a necessary evil, filling the pockets of most store owners and litter-bugging the beach.
I empathise with you on the invasion of your little isle by tourists who dip in then out ..changing your environment in the process...and not understanding this is your home ALL year round...
