The Jersey Devil lurks still...

Poem Artwork

The thunder rolls on,
Over the hills & valleys,
Filled with trees of pine,
Forty thousand acres down the line…

He has been sighted at the Delaware river,
As well on the shores of the ocean,
And all the way into the northwest mountains,
But in those pines is where you could best catch his motion…

If you are lucky enough to see him in form,
He will be gallivanting across the tree tops,
His wings will be all you hear when he is near,
If you are lucky you can see him in lightening,
That is when you will notice your own fear…

He prefers to stay in his own company,
He has no need for a female, or children,
He is immortal, nothing can of him kill,
He can see in the dark as well as he can in the light,
But prefer he does the darkness of the night,
Again, look for him in lightening storms,
It is said he does glow just after the flash.

Out in the dark, in with a flash. The Jersey Devil infests you like a rash. You, among many others, will continue this fairytale to scare the bejeebes (a polite, politically correct kids' word for Jesus) out of poor little defenseless kids so they can't sleep at night. Does that make you proud of yourself?

Shame on you… Bully!
