Island

Of which I shall never see again...


Poem Artwork

 Surrounded by churning waters,

Channeled by turning, swirling currents,

Clear blue waters possessing of the beaches,

Out of most humans reaches…

 

Not mine, nor yours,

Not open to tours,

Not populated, but to one,

Watch it rise and set the sun…

 

Relaxing on the beach,

Sleeping in the daytime,

Following the stars at night,

From the top of a palm,

Drifting on the breeze in a hammock,

Time to dream while listening to the stream.

You are immersed in the idyllic idea of being on a desert island, not trapped, but free to enjoy.

Unfortunately, those Naked and Afraid participants dropped on idyllic desert islands find food and water hard to come by. If not besieged by bugs at night and day, either burning in the blistering sands during the day, or freezing in bed at night. Or worse, caught often in a tropical deluge. Reality trumping the dream.

Your words tell of a lost beach perhaps? We here have lost quite a lot of land to litle ol' Lake Erie!! Scary! As always, I get into your words, Ed.
