I took a bunch of pictures in the snow last night, and did not notice this fellow, he actually showed himself, but only after I downloaded the pic...

Creature in the Light…

See the creature in the light?

He has an arm, legs & a discernable head,

He frolics and changes his appearance,

Never the same, never till he is dead…

As long as the light remains,

His death is far off, but power off, click,

He is dead, but will return when the power,

Does the same, oh the fickle whims of electricity,

This light is quite high; he resides way up on a tower…

Overlooks his small but ever growing domain,

One has to be totally and completely insane,

To live so high, is it not just inane?

Nothing can he do, to affect the lives of the few,

He has power over, the squirrels, chipmunks & cats,

That invade this his habitat, only to be under his power for but two…

To be under his power longer, he has to touch,

He also has to have the light on, for without, he dies,

He hides up there during the daylight hours,

Nary a whisper can be heard even in the night,

He speaks to the animals, Rufuz hears him,

But Rufuz belongs to another world,

A world of light, not to be bothered by this foe…

No fear does he invoke,

To those living on the ground,

He can only give pain,

Through the sense of touch,

From way up there,

He will never get anywhere,

No, not very much…

Ed;

Damned fine writing here, some of your best yet. "The small, but growing domain" is a nice touch, and serves to identify this faceless creature of the night light.

Very nice write.

You best be careful taunting that wise old creature. As you point out, he does communicate with Rufuz, and the squirrels, chipmunks, and cats. Be careful!
