These are the simple moments of happiness, which are often forgotten or ignored with worries about the past or future.
It’s that pre-warmed toilet seat
your mate left you.
It’s that basket of fries
your friend didn’t finish.
It doesn’t take much
to make us happy,
if we only make note
of what’s around us,
every day,
regardless of worries,
regardless of lack of
recognition.
In those moments
we can see
the circle of humanity
from death to birth,
yes, and birth to death.
Can we fertilize the ground,
make trees and grass praise us?
The happiness never ends,
so long as we notice,
so long as we care,
so long as we don’t ignore
what little things can do
to our spirits,
lifting us up
and beyond daily routines.
It’s that song
you were thinking about,
comes on the radio,
uplifts your mood,
an irresistible smile
envelopes your lips.
One main theme I like in your poem is the idea if "we only note what's around us". The best way to find happiness I believe is to lose self in doing some good for others or take note of the beauty of the world around one self. Just hearing some old song you love over the radio you may have long forgotten can do wonders as you allude near the end.

I love your recounting of the little things that make life so worthwhile. This morning she had me taste a bite of a cupcake was given yesterday, nicely warmed over to go with my coffee.
You also reminded of my form by the same name. If you look it up I think it'll give you a chuckle to brighten your day.
One of the not-so-little things that puts a smile on my face and brings sunshine into my soul is Danae posting again--and in a great mood. As they say in the South, that's better than an RC cola and Moon pie. Welcome back!
I most certainly agree that the "little things" can well give us unbounded pleasure in its quiet, simple way. I'm particularly quite appreciative of . . . that pre-warmed toilet seat.
With so much noise opting to distract us form any focus today, reminding all that there are so many little things deserving of our attention is not only reader worthy, but an alert for the senses that all who purport to know big is better, or biggest is all that matters, or huuuuuuge Trumps all, are descriptive bursts of bombastic insecurity and bloviating that a hungry soul has no time for. Well penned, as usual.
Aberash has been driven from the world by the tormenting of the dragons she released and now they threaten the balance of power. The Crimean War has broken out. Zabella is sent to Rehema, the exiled queen, to learn the secrets of the dragons. But can
When I wrote ths book in 2000, I was concerned about children having access to the Internet and to chat rooms where "you can be anyone you want." Here we are many years later and the situation with children talking freely to stangers on the Internet
