Inner blend
Blinks blindly
For better days
Beyond this churning
This anxiety of experience
A flood of twisted emotions
A breeze turned into a gale
An inward darkness
That spends love banks
Where heart is tender open
And walls fall down
Broken by bombs of familiarity
Or else the new man or woman
Who has captured it
The bleakness drains it all
Searching for something
A hope to absorb
A rope to freedom
Though the pit seems bottomless
And the shovel still digs
Why, why, why?
Your stomach hurts
You know what you must do
Shake the sands of the waist-pinched glass
And turn it back over
Poetry in my estimation is rarely about self-analysis or a cry for help, rather it is about thoughts, ideas, and emotions in the abstract, told with skill and care--or it misses its purpose. This is a well-crafted poem told with skill and care, instructive without showing signs of the issues it reveals. Well done.
Poetry is a good way for you to shed the darkness and move toward the light. It may be hard but I think your attitude will get you there. To where you are comfortable again.
Excellent poetic phrasing about darkness without going into self-pitying boredom for the reader. Instead, the darkness is portrayed as a state of mind we all have in one degree or another, making the poem universal, except, perhaps, those that think they're void of such honesty that you posit eloquently. The ending is spot on with a metaphoric image that is perfect. Again, excellent work.
