I face the wind.

Each day I wait.

Time passes.

I wait for the world to change.

People come and go.

I cringe at the sounds of trees falling.

The cries of animals dying.

Monstrous structures replace the rolling hills.

Fewer trees dot the landscape.

Dirty water fills the ocean, rivers, and lakes.

Mankind has marked the world

in irreversible ways.

Stop before it’s too late.

I refuse to be the last tree standing.

I like your line of defiance at the end. As far as cities go, there was a recent photographic look at cities before environmental regulation. It wasn't pretty.

We must grow more trees than are cut down.

Let us hope that hard-hitting poetry like this reaches around the world and that slogans of politicians reflect great poetry and attempting to get everyone tuned into what is going on.

This earth will be fine and will shake us off like a bunch of fleas is similar to what George Carlin says. I'm with him. Humans are like the rust on a car. Great write!

Love ya!

If we manage to cause our own extinction, the earth will replenish itself in nature's glory, trees included.
