Distant howling of the wolf
Brings me to attention
So haunting yet so still
Serenely lets me in on how you feel
Whimsically brought in the wind
Then a response begins
From the distance comes another
A chain reaction one follows the other
Echoing in the canyon's depths
Your ancient voice heard at its best
So fitting in this forest home
A place that you do freely roam
How blessed am I to share this land
How patient you to share with man

has a chilling presence withn this poem excellent expressions.
Marvelous, Theresa. I, too, have heard these calls in the northwood, and I've been truly captivated by them. But mankind still persecutes brother wolf, even in Alaska, and I sadly wonder how much longer we will hear those haunting refrains.
Superb poem that fits the theme flawlessly.Wolves on the frozen tundra, and your words puts the reader right there to experience the mood.

Describes the desert perfectly. I life next to one of the largest city parks in the country in the Sonoran Desert: 14,000 acres. See wolves and coyotes often in th wash back of the house.
