The smoke filled air burned my teary sad eyes
Filling my lungs with ash and gray soot I cough
What a disaster my thoughts scream out, my Lord
Vegetation wilting before me makes barren land
Now what will become of the wildlife’s homes?
Even the once plentiful fish float about the hot creek
Mother earth surely yells out in pain, feeling burnt skin
What brother or sister caused this chaos, oh man
I played here once taking for granted the green grass
Now I stand here gazing about this smoke, heart broke
Where will the surviving elk migrate trudging on?
Food elsewhere grows thin progress they call it
But I remember when organic was a normal backyard
Maybe this burn will cause a purification of sorts
If the new plants can make it through the pollution
Perhaps as mutations they will survive here once again
As the tears of anguish streak the soot on your face your optimistic hope shines through as you look ahead in a desire to believe that maybe...things can change. Very well cone Theresa
That pic is the most amazing, most beautiful I have ever seen. GORGEOUS!!!!!! I got lost in the mountains...in the mist (smoke?)...and was glad to have taken the journey.
