Oh Great Enlightened One
I come to repose at the foot of your bodhi tree
Namu Amida Butsu, Buddha of Boundless Light
All is suffering in this dark world
and the root cause of suffering is desire
cleanse me of all inner impurity
and restore my soul in grace
let the rivers of your tears wash over me
and baptise me in the name of the Eternal Truth
Om Tat Sat, vibration, light, and Christ consciouness
bestow me with the Four Noble Truths
and enable me on the Eight Fold Path
teach me right conduct in all my ways
and self discipline of the most sublime order
so that I can be a conduit for good
and a bridge of mercy
a lotus covered pond of compassion
for all seekers of the Truth
to recline on my shores
and be refreshed within and without
and prepare me for the Hidden Buddha to come
oh Lord Maitreya, we await your coming
in deep silence and meditation
and we will enjoy Nirvana and eternal peace
oh Awakened One, let my karmic wheel spin
let me lay up store for future lives
and repay the debt of past lives
reincarnate me for the greatest good
all is perishable and impermanent
change is inevitable
let me fly like a skyhawk
and fall like the nourishing rain from heaven
let me gain wisdom from experience
and awake like the emerging seed
to be all, that I can be
a Power of Oneness

I've always been an admirer of Buddha's vast wisdom, and this is a most powerful ode to it, Peter. To me his most fascinating belief was that we should be compassionate to all living creatures, even the tiniest bug, since we could very well be that tiny bug in our next life, on our long extremely difficult journey to Nirvana.
