Fire Writing

As some of you know I have been off for a few days camping and freezing my butt in a tent, I did do some writing and guitar playing and with the ocean as my backdrop

Poem Artwork

My angry campfire snaps and crackles

Waves like thunder crash on sand

The birds and squirrels communicate

In a way we’ll never understand

Stoke the fire and open up the case

My guitar wants to play the songs of old

I hear the chill winds whip up a chorus

In the Atlantic’s sublime shades of cold

The endless miles stretch across the ocean

In my mind I see a land across the sea

My pick strums the first chord then another

About a lonely someone I don’t want to be

I pause now and then to write a new line

In a well used notebook titled songs

The night is right for muse and master

This place seems to be where he belongs

The sun bids the moon to go to work

The last line a chorus falls in place

Put away that old scarred six string

Another memory captured here tonight.

Having been raised in Southern California, I camped on the beach a lot and never recall freezing my butt off, especially in September which is often the hottest month, so that statement kind of knocked me back for a moment until I recalled that you lived in the great North where the water is cold and the wind biting, even in September. Your words sound as though you found a peace out there though, so that is a nice reward. This poem was a pleasure to read and your words painted a vibrant picture of wonderful nights falling asleep to the hypnotic sound of the waves crashing to the shore.
Take care,
Sherry

I love a campfire, the chill of the night, denim and flannel. You give me all this in your words and you make the man the singer who holds my attention. I wish the picture weren't so dark. maybe if I close my eyes I can see much better.
I'm back dear Fee!
love,
Susan

Fee,
For me, the campfires of late summer and autumn are the best. I like the warmth of the days and the crispness of night. A total rejuvination.

I'm a bit envious that you had this exceptional and relaxing time.

Freezing...I wish...it's been a sweltering summer for me and I am ready for a heavy dose of the cool fall air and an evening or two fireside and song...what a perfect segue for the mind and pen. Hope you had a great time in spite of the frost!

Some of my best work is from, in front of the flames...there's something about a crackling spit of inspire...I think amid the dark silence, under the moon, especially in the cold...it makes one feel...alone, with the night air, and all the mystery light can't see. "Fire Writing" moves me to get my tent and hiking gear out. . .Pauly can bring the guitar and I'll just use a couple of coffee cans for my set of congas! :) Play it again, Fee~
Love and Peace~

Campfires always make me think about caramaderie, friendship and the only time when men come out of the shell to talk about feelings among themselves.
And with one guitar...that's a plus! ask Willie Nelson if I am wrong.

There's nothing quite like fine writing, but I have one question: how do you get on the computer when you're CAMPING?? That's what I'd like to know (unless you have a laptop...*grins*)! Have fun, and stay safe; you're missed! Was just asking about you today....

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
