Her Only Wish
By: Fee
Twas Christmas Eve
So long ago
In a little country town
The little girl
laid out milk and cookies
and put on her night gown
She looked out
of her front room window
at the new fallen snow
The snow birds
on her window sill
sang a carol or two
She’d written
a letter off to Santa
what else could she do
She placed a lantern
in the window
to help him find his way
Put out carrots
for the reindeer
near Santa’s snacking tray
Knelt to say her prayers
tight beside her
turned down bed
Her mother tucked
the little girl in
sad at the words she’d said
For the little girl’s
prayers and her only
Christmas wish for sure
Was to bring her daddy
home for Christmas
in nineteen forty-four
Her Daddy had
been missing in action
in a place far away
It made her
Mommy cry in the night
and no more want to play
So the child dreamt
and she slept
until she heard a great clatter
She felt two strong
arms around her
and so much happy chatter
Her dream
had been answered
her wish fulfilled
He’d survived
as a hero
and never got killed
While in a sleigh
on a rooftop
a jolly man made to leave
Merry Christmas
to all
and always believe!

What a beautiful Christmas story built around a picture. You are talented, Fee. It shows in this awesome tale. She got the best present she could ever receive. All it takes is a little faith.
Blessings and huggs,
