Ed I hope you don't mind but I was inspired by your Gnome series
Yes we be Gnomes that goes without dispute There are many humans who even think us cute We might be a bit small for a full stache and beard But we are not the creatures you hated and feared
You spoke of computer sabotage and devilish pranks Blaming us like we were teens performing phone cranks You think of us as inhumane and spiteful wretches But who was it who sent out the first catchers
You trapped us and carried us from our home Because you desired a lawn ornament Gnome We were chased across our lands and valleys too You didn’t think to stop until you were through
The suffering we faced was beyond declaration As bit by bit you overran our small nation You then fed us with a petrifying drug And placed us in gardens carefully dug
You neither fed us or bathed us unless it rained And even sent out your dogs dutifully trained I still shudder each time I see one lift its leg Pouring upon us like it just drank a keg
Season after season we stood in place Facing humiliation and total disgrace We were all vulnerable and with no protection from what the squirrels wanted in their collection
lets just say most of us went from tenors to sopranos and it wasn’t with the help of magic pianos So yes in fear we left your computer in disarray Cause we found out you advertised us on ebay
Wow! I'm glad you were inspired to be their advocate, and you have shed much light, on their plight. Although I think I've now reached a truce with them, I best lecture my dogs again about that leg lifting. I don't want a gnome riot on my hands - our home is now completely surrounded!
Homer's Ill Iliad & Odd Sea Odyssey (420 pages) is an adult satire/parody rewrite of the classic stories of the 10 year Trojan War and of the 10 year adventure of Odysseus trying to return home to his native Ithaca.
Pee Wee you just have to give Ed a gnome award for humor, if nothing else;-)!

Eileen
