Meet the Cairngorm Reindeer

Cairngorm Reindeer of Scotland

In her Highland home,
Sarek,

the wise, mysterious
lead reindeer
with a lavender
nose
that proudly
glows,

finds suitable pasture
guided by her homing
instinct and attraction
to mineral licks.

Meet the Cairngorm Reindeer.

On Creran

On Fionn

On Glacier

On Ice

On Indigo

On Minstrel

On Gypsy

On Burgandy

pulling

the topiary
sleigh.

Authors Note: Antler harvesting is not a cruel practice.
But it does cause the reindeer to be off-balance short-term. Antler harvesting is similar to humans being momentarily thrown off course, unable to navigate their onward movement because of physical and emotional tilt.

The antler cycle begins anew each spring when they reach the velvet stage. In May, June, and July, the antler farmers cut the antlers with a meat saw after the reindeer are given an anesthetic. They are back in the pastures within fifteen minutes. It can be this simple for humans!

When your runners are temporarily "dulled," let the spiritual horn branches of the reindeer guide you through the seasons with new sharp-blade visions.

Interesting information. Just was on a website where it showed gateways created from antlers that are collected when the racks fall naturally.

really liked this! I'm scottish and have written a poem about Highland cattle, those cows with the tawny eyes and long-haired coats. Was fascinated by the antler information; yes, it's bound to affect the reindeer when it's antlers are shorn, and when the big shots go out with their rifles, even more so. All the best! kenny

My grandma used to take Antler power, sprinkled onto the food that are cooked, she always shared that with me when I was a little girl, for she thought I was too weak and skinny. Wonderful write, Sage!
