An impassionate autumn

This has been a strange year. Winter never really came with its full fury. Spring was almost unnoticed. Summer was hot and humid and this we expected but autumn seems to be reluctant to show itself.

Poem Artwork

Outside my window there stands a Maple tree.

I am watching closely to see what signs of autumn there may be.

The leaves are still green and it is the end of September.

This is not reminiscent of any September I can remember.

I look more closely and I notice one lonely leaf brave enough to change.

Unlike its fellow leaves it begins to turn orange.

Down the street there is another tree standing high on the hill.

The south western portion is turning orange and gold but the rest is green still.

The temperature is dropping down at night but rises again during the day.

The air is standing still; not like September why do the trees not sway?

No breeze to cool them; no autumn rain in sight.

The temperature is higher than normal both by day and by night.

When will we see the full glory of autumn in its entire splendor?

When the leaves float from the tree limbs preparing us for the coming of winter?

A wonderful write, love the color...it looks like autumn here in the mountains of Kentucky, but it doesn't feel like fall. The leaves are changing and falling because of the drought, they're just drying up on the trees...so we're not seeing the beautiful and colorful colors of fall, the leaves are not drying slowly but seems almost over night! The air still feels like summer, it was just 93% yesterday...strange weather! Great write!

The words and the font colors - a beautiful way of depicting autumn.

The weather is mighty strange this year, and only getting stranger. Very well done; love the graphic!
