Poem Artwork

Evenings gone by, dusk of summer,

Song of Whip-Poor-Will mating quest,

Quavering, fades to bare murmur,

Falling echoes of love’s trill-fest.

Now we try for evening screenings

In warmth of summer stillness,

List' to woodland's dusky gleanings ---

Only echoes of Whip-Poor-Willness.

Your message was relevant fifty years ago and it is even more so today obviously since we have learned nothing apparently. Thank you, Leland. Love and peace,

Regis

And no more fear the hoards of mosquitoes at night and flies in the day. I miss bluebirds and nighthawks.

The over-tone of sadness at such a loss is evident through your words of what is now dwindling...

Be always safe,
