Poem Artwork

Six foot ditches in a sea of grass
Waves of goodbyes amid planted flags
Fallen heros with no name men
face to face with their Maker’s Bren

What’s it all about?
And why do we fight?
Hunt down the enemy . . .?
"No! . . . It’s just not right!"

We CAN stand for Freedom!
We should wish for Peace!
Don’t order out our young men for your bloody feasts!
Halve the parchment’s and thumb press its crease

List the,  what is it you want’s, on this side
and I will write,  what is it I want’s, on the other
Everyone here, alive
was somebody’s, AND God's, little
child!

Yes, terror has crossed paths, since way back when
and men have been killed,  just for the sake of men
Religious beliefs, and increasing boundary lines. . .
Wars were fought since the emerge of time!

. . . and the shovels keep digging
and the flags still wave, over the headstones of these men of brave
The War on Iraq, is another stain . . .
fighting for resources in some number’s game???

But, what’s it all about?
. . . and why do we fight?
In a god-fearing country
can’t we Faith our Knights?

Let us Hope in Peace
and hold onto our Faith!
Love one another. . .my brethren
For, is it not enough, in what the Lord hath saith?

Well, isn't it?

Well said and just tears at my heart for each brave soldier who has fallen. Sometimes as the years pass it makes you stop and wonder why sometimes. Was it really worth it? Was it that important? WAS THERE NO OTHER WAY???

Be safe,
Karen

It depends if you have God on your side. When it hits close to home we stand up and fight. We say it's not revenge, but it really is. Mostly, wars are over territory and resources. We praise the soldiers and bury the dead and promise never to go through that again.

I read "The Little Prince" last night, even though the author died the next year in WW2, it makes the little story more poignant...

In the world of the bard and poets we all would love the world of peace and fellowship that was preached ago for so long and still pined for by so many but...

The sad truth is wars are not fought by the soldiers, sailors and airmen but by the bumbling politicians who care little for the sons and daughters of the nation. When the polling stations have only hald or less the population turn up to vote and the idiots are elected all we can do is shake our heads and hope...

Nice work here Kimmy, both with words and art.
Isn't it sad how we vote people into office to do our wishes, peace on earth, health care for all and a comfortable retirement for our beloved elderly and what do we get? Death, destruction, more taxes, no health care and a pittance of social security if we live that long. Oh, but those we voted for have riches, free health care forever and a pension plan that we can only dream of........

Wonderful write, Kimmy. If we believe in Christ we will preach peace but we will not be surprised when his prophecies come true. There will be no peace except the second coming of our Lord. But hold on to your faith. He is on his way.
God bless,
Lew

They have converted all of us in pathetics Don Quixotes going against windmills just with a catchy name, we have been reduced to hit the air with a mighty sword like a berserk horde fighting hallusinations.
Just stop the war, all wars and give Peace a chance and not go around like gunslingers in search of a duell, doing it always will call upon other screwed up to raise up to the challence.

Kimmy,

As long as man is around, there will be wars and rumors of wars. Dang. Even brother fights against brother...they don't know HOW to get along, as much as the majority wants them to...still, there is hope, always hope...yet, as a Veteran, I'm proud of the service I did for my country. Thank God I wasn't in combat as many of my bretheren were/are. Don't have the nightmares (do have pain, though). Conflicted...want peace, want to support our military men and women. Powerful words and stunning illustration

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

War on Terror is a trumped up name for something that can not be won.
And will continue to suck the life force from our country.
Merry Christmas Kimmy and your clan.

This is a powerful message. I remeber the words " And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand." So it is with a awr that isn't i truth ,Hustice and the American way. We need our knight in shining armour to stand, even when forces in high places wish to desolve this great land.
