There is nothing more peaceful and satisfying than a beautiful nature scene built with God's own love, and for that reason I revere nature and all its glorious beauty.
An Old Oak Tree
I have an old oak tree It's long gnarling limbs reaching high Sitting like a sentry in my front yard Fingers touching the spacious sky
The little squirrels run up and down The huge old tree trunk so big Scouting the ground and the grass For acorns they like to dig.
I know the birds live there too Birdsong whispers through the air I watch them sometimes flying past When the weather is sunny fair.
Nature is filled with marvelous treasures For all people to truly enjoy God furnishes us with the beauty Filling our lives with worthwhile employ.
Now that old tree wakes up each morning With sunlight filtering through its foliage Sending out beams of light and heat Through leaves, limbs, twigs and branches.
So when you're tired and lonely With no place to goand no one to see Just visit an old oak tree And it'll greet you like it does me.
SO TRUE...WITH EYES THAT HAVE SEEN EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD IT IS A WONDERFUL REVELATION TO HAVE OUR FAITH STRENGTHENED BY THE THINGS THAT ARE GOD'S ALONE...HIS NATURE...CREATED AND KEPT BY HIM. A LOVELY REMINDER OF HIM...THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS.

Brings me to memories of the HOME we moved from, I can
still see the HUGE BEAUFIFUL Glorious Oak Tree, in our front yard, near the main road for all to be Blessed by! STill today and moreso, since reading this gem! Thank you! Jeanette! We have so many natural blessings yet to conquor and appreciate! Good to see, another writes of our majestic Spirit trees, I feel so connected! and this poem confirms someone (many) do and can!

Jeanette, I love big old trees. This gives me a clear picture of the huge trees on Grandma's farm. I love to sit under them and listen to the wind comb through the leaves.
Beautifully written, filled with all the passions Nature has to offer, both plant and animal...

Ah ...this is lovely Jeanette...reminds me of a huge beech tree on my property where I go to meditate frequently...something about it's strong roots,deep in the ground...seems to help pull the strength of nature from the earth for me as I lean against "her" in silence...so well done! ....erin
I too love the feel and the peace of nature. I can get lost in a the scenery and the serenity that comes with a long walk or just sitting beneath an old oak tree! Great write dear friend!

A thing we have in common, Jeanette: In my novel The Paradise of Revenge and in my two posted short stories "Yours and Mine" and "You and Me," I reference a Great Horned Owl in his craggily old oak tree.
Some things in nature are universally recognized and loved by all. In your lovely poem An Old Oak Tree you share the magic. I especially like your lines, "So when you're tired and lonely/With no place to go and no one to see/Just visit an old oak tree/And it'll greet you like it does me."
