Mind's kingdom..........

            Sun is shining brightly above,
temperature is warm, slight breeze moving in.
        Sailboat swaying tied to the moor,
          time to go out, prepare to begin.

        Open the window to look outside,
     take a deep breath, salty air is the best.
     If I want to have time for sailing today,
  better get ready and get out before the rest.

Need a few sandwiches, remember the drinks,
      take down the cooler, pack it with ice.
  Misplaced my hat, where are my sneakers,
       checking my gear not once but twice.

  Been a long time, summer slow in coming,
 will I remember all the steps it might take?
Poor sailboat has been sitting all winter long,
  sails look great, what repairs must I make?

       Untying the ropes, lifting the anchor,
      excitement fills the soul with a sense
                            of freedom.
            Once out to sea raise the sails,
  sit back, relax, enjoy your mind's kingdom.

   Hands over one side skimming the water,
as the sailboat journeys on skirting the shore.
  Before too long dolphins surround my boat,
        swimming alongside as if taking me
                             on a tour.

  They swam, jumped, clicked as they stayed,
     a few came real close, their heads I pet.
     With me and my sailboat all afternoon,
   a wonderful experience I will never forget.
