The pic is as close as I could find and I put a bit of the blue color on it's breast and head which isn't on the original blackcap bird. I just wanted to show a reasonable facscimile;-) If any of you know of such a bird, please tell me! Thanks
I love birds and feed them from my porch, the bluebirds actually take pieces of graham crackers from my hands-the bird in this tale is an unknown species and I can't find it in my bird book, this really happened...

I met a bird as I was walking It seemed to be following me The park is lined with lovely trees I stopped, "Hello you beauty" It answered with a lovely warbling Cardinal sounds, only it was black Mixed with navy blue breast feathers And a light blue head crest It looked at me head to one side I smiled, "I love the way you sing, " I continued walking , it went from tree To tree following me,I felt such joy I stopped and it began it's song again I sat under atree to see what it would do To my surprise it flitted to the ground Stood next to my knee, looking up at me I began to tell how a friend had hurt me Not believing me,demeaning my character I called the bird indigo, it acted like it Understood what I was saying-it hopped Onto my thigh and kept staring at me Through tears I let out my frustration Telling indigo of all the hurt I felt When I was through,I told it to Follow me home,so I could keep it or It could visit me like other birds do With a beautiful trill it flew away I jumped up to see where it had gone There was no sign of it-I felt so sad,I knew It had been sent to comfort me, and it had When I got home indigo was on my porch rail I stood in awe and watched it fly away, I knew It would be back again,to visit and sing for me

An email question! I live 3 blocks from the park and go there often. I have been feeding and talking with birds for over 11 years.
hOW WONDERFUL YOU CAN RELATE TO NATURE IN THIS WAY. WONDERFUL WORDS ABOUT YOUR BIRD FRIEND AND YOU HAVE SO MANY WRITES ON THE DEN I WILL HAVE A HARD TIME READING THEM ALL. BUT THIS ONE I WAS FORTUNATE TO PULL UP AND LOVE IT. SO SWEET TWEEDLE DE DEE!!!
This was a precious, magical encounter, dear Eileen. Even if you never find "indigo's" name, its spirit has found your own when the moment was right. And this is what truly makes... magic.
Thank you for this breath of crystalline air, as soothing as a spirit in song.

Eileen I have a bird of that sort in my house who used to frrequently visit us but has now established a base for itself somehwere in the house. It has the color of indigo and sings so beautifully. Nonetheless it is not new to me I used to see it in the upcountry when I was a small boy. There is one thing I noticed with my indigo, which your probable does not have. It is an agressive bird. It doesn't allow other birds with smaller bodies to share a place with it. it just fights and scares them away. It behaved like a small terrorist in my house. I stopped feeding it until it left. Now it is back but not as notorious as it used to be.
Thanks eileenand God Bless you Queen

Wow Eileen. This though doesn't surprise me. You are a beautiful lady and God is always there with you. Indigo what a beautiful name for a beautiful bird. I'm very sorry to hear though of your sadness.
you're always here to comfort me I hate to hear you sad.
Beautiful poem. All creatures understand us they especially understand those as beautiful and respectful as yourself.

A beautiful uplifting tale Elieen, when I was a Ranger I used to watch the birds for hours, we can learn much from nature...it's nice to know she likes to converse once-and-a-whlile.

I thought that was me tummy at first.
When I talk to birds she normally slaps me round the mush.
Funny I have had the same robin return every autumn..
It is a thrill when this occurs. Yet we can take ittoo much for granted...
Quite a remarkable and uplifting story. Animals have instincts we humans will never understand. I think they're quite spiritual. Thank you for sharing it with us. I hope he does come back to you.
I love these type of poems where you have to imagine it was sent from above to bring cheer to your day and let you express your probems. I hope he comes back to you. I will ask my bird loving daughter if she knows what kind of bird it is. Sparkling and moving write.

I really enjoyed this one, as I too love to watch birds- they are just amazing creatures, their colors, songs, flight, actions, I just need to get a birdfeeder now! Thanks for sharing this.

You are okay, huh? LOL I was waiting to see if Indigo answered you, and thank goodness it didn't, at least not in the English language. I understand your fasination with birds and nature as a whole, I have learned to appreciate it much more as I grow older.
This is the most amazing story! I don't know about birds except that I enjoy (most of) them very much. The Hummingbirds bring me such delight. What a gift God sent to you! I think the bird was telling you not to give power to the hurtful person's words.
It truly is marvelous when strange, captivating creatures visit us, Tiger Lily. It sounds like you had a wonderful experience, and I'm sure your new friend will be back soon. Varied Thrush, perhaps, or a Mountain Bluebird?
