Poem Artwork

There are Poets among us
whose words should be memorized
and written in gold -
who wield the pen as a sharp sword,
using it as a weapon,
spearing words we wish we'd said
and boldly pin them to the page;
still others dance with brilliance
and come away with no wasted
motion or effort on their part as
words skip off the tips of their pens ...

I wish I could write like that.
How dare I call myself "Poet"?

No one ever feels like their own work is good enough. I also write poetry, and think it's okay, and then I read some that is actually *good**L*

Ah, Karla, we all stand together, writing what is in our hearts and minds, and hoping others will read and understand. How dare many of us, but then, why not?

Peace. Joyce

"I dare not call myself a poet for fear that someone may actually expect me to write “good” poetry." This quote is taken directly from my bio page, so I can certainly relate to how you feel, Karla. We all write for different reasons and from different pathways in life. Though we are all guilty of comparing ourselves with others, it really isn't fair to do so. We are not them and what we write has as much validity as what they write, we simply see things from a different perspective. It is all good, Karla.
Take care,
Sherry

Right attitude, I agree totally; we can always improve. But, and here goes my two cents worth, I think it is also important to know what we do best and why. First thing is having something to say, (find your voice) and you do! You always do. The other, is finding the form that is best suited for what you have to say. Only you know what is. Then, work like heck to make it perfect. You're talented, girl. Don't ever let me see you put yourself down.

Karla I do not know where your portry muse got the heavy dose of negativity that he seems to fit you with while on the same hand providing you with so many wonderful masterpieces. Keep on writing and enjoy the fact that people enjoy your work...is there anything more?

You are too self-critical, poet. You are a poet and a damn fine one at that. Still, you have the right attitude, never forget that you can improve. The greatest poets of all time died thinking that they could have done it better. Karla . . . The Poet. Sounds good to me because it is real. So are you.

Well You don't have to call yourself a poet...I'll do it for you!
Karla you are not only one of the sweetest people I've ever met, you are true to who you are, and that says so much about your heart.
Lady...Poet...Friend...I will miss you, but I will be around from time to time.

Lisa
