Poem Artwork

Not storm!  These rounded
vowels of heavy
thunder  e c h o i n g
through the darkness on
clouds of smoke; not guns!
These mortared thuds of
sonance  l i n g e r i n g
in vibrating souls
and shaking the ground
underfoot.  Nay, it's
the announcement of
night flowers  b l o o m i n g
overhead on stalks
of light imprinted
on our eyes:  the joy
of watching July's
fireworks  e x p l o d e -
incredible voice,
the wonderful songs,
ones we see and feel.
