... Welcome to Jack's world. ...

Poem Artwork

Perfectly formed, perfectly orange,
ripe, ready for the operation that
will change his appearance, forever,
with a face only a ghost or goblin
will love.

Ready to have his innards removed,
thrown away (or, if lucky, roasted
to be a snack, later).  Pushed to be
the star of the show until Halloween
is through.

He lies, smashed and abandoned
in the streets, his fall from grace
quite nasty, indeed.  How it is,
the life of Pumpkin.  Welcome to
Jack's world.
