Some wait until the very last minute ...

Wanted to write something
beautiful, but someone else
beat me to it - wanted
to write something that would

be meaningful, but that
was covered, too.  Wanted
to write you a box of
chocolates, but someone

told me you're allergic -
wanted to write you a
warm fuzzy but someone
said you'd outgrown stuffed toys

and that you didn't want
animal fur in the
house.  Everything I
wanted to write was picked

over - now what do I
do?  What do poets with
no money and a whole
lot of words give to their

sweethearts this Valentine's
Day or is it too late
to even try to worm
my way out of trouble?
