Very nicely written. I like your daring--wanting to see the storm, wanting to photograph it. There is no mention of fear in this one. Can it be that you're getting braver?

some of these lines in here are very powerful... an interesting note: "they're rarely wrong." kind of took some umph from that second stanza... I can't figure out why... maybe because my mind was seeing, feeling, breathing it all in, and then there was an aside? --Don't know. The first two stanzas were the most powerful, and the third one could have a very interesting play-on-words with "The Poet I am" if you were to capitalize that "am"... The last stanza, you could throw away everything but the "What to do?" line, and it would just punch me... except that I really like that "StormFraider" bit... very cute.
Snap fast is all I can say and look at the picture to write about it after the storm. This is a tuff one. Well written piece of storm coverage. We are expecting a freeze tonight, kind of unusual for NC.

Karla, the first two stanzas of this poem read like haiku. They poured over me with deep sentiment in every line. I enjoyed reveling in the powerful imagery and relating to your words. Wonderful writing. I particularly was moved by the question, "where are the birds?" I believe we are highly tuned to the activities of birds and are accustomed to their company, thereby making it significant when they are absent. And, of course, the photo was magnificent. Brooding and stirring, at the same time. Keep up the great work!
