Heroes, all: those who've
donned the uniform
in defense of their
country. Not because
they wanted war --- far
from it. They wanted
peace as much as the
next; they didn't want
to leave families
behind to wait the
interminable
wait; they did not want
to die. But they went,
without being asked.
They did not ask for
honor and glory;
they would tell you they
are not heroes. The
least we could do is
thank and honor them:
not just on certain
days of the year, but
every single day.
They sacrificed, so
you didn't have to ...
Heroes, yes! Thank you for recognizing those honorable and brave souls who step up to the plate to sacrifice for us all! This poem has touched the core of me... I am humbled by your words in a far personal way... as they bring to mind my little petite niece, in Iraque right now, sacrificing... Blessings, JBS
