" ... I'll hear him say, "I love that sound" and will have to agree: so do I, Daddy, so do I. ...." Love you, Daddy, miss you.

Poem Artwork

As my eyes look up into the
starry sky in anticipation of a
celebration of light, Daddy's
eyes look down; he so loved

the 4th and fireworks.  I can
remember him saying, "I love
that sound" every single time
a mortar was fired; one of his

greatest joys was shooting
off a rocket or two when the
mood struck.  Didn't have to
be a holiday --- every day was

a reason to celebrate.  The
tears may fall, because he is
no longer here, but he has the
best seat in the house --- I'll

hear him say, "I love that sound"
and will have to agree:  so do I,
Daddy, so do I.  Let's watch the
show together, God, you and I.

A wonderful and poignant celebration of country, of family, of God.

I read your poem twice, Karla: Once to myself and once aloud.

Very touching... Though Daddy's gone, your love and relationship may even improve in a strange way through your poems. Tonight, I'll shoot a Roman Candle off for the two of you over Lake Stinkhole here in Florida (still here!)
