Poem Artwork

The skies shaded in
darkening hues of terror,
clouds swollen.  Pulsing ...

the wind dies.  All stilled
before the chaos arrives.
Where are the birds??  Red

watch boxes issued;
radars crank up; weathermen
go on high alert,

matching the high risk,
dangerous situation
building overhead.

Spatterings of rain
do not cut humidity,
only enhance it;

you can f e e l something
wicked this way comes.  Sirens
wail warbeling tones;

chasers converge on
the storm; Civil Defense and
cities in the path

rise to the challenge.
This, just another day of
life in 'The Alley.' ...

The clashing point between warm, moist Gulf air, and cold air sweeping down from Canada. The 'Alley' covers a good bit of terrain. I've read of the constant storms and tornados there. Nicely portrayed, Karla.

I agree with Juliet, Karla. This is spine-tingling stuff... Apprehension along with the static electricity... You describe always this frisson so very well. Stay safe and out of harm's way, Honey...

wicked this way comes

love the inversion here... feels like stroking a cat backwards, if you get my drift... Conjures great atmosphere. xx

"Life in the alley". So true; who needs the image when you painted so chillingly in verse? WOW! The tension builds ... you capture the power of Storm effectively in these lines! Very well done; brava!
