'The Devil's Manifesto'

... everybody talks about the baby, the
holy child, whose birth they celebrate
each Christmas.  But we want to keep
him there, an innocent, wrapped up
like a present in swaddling clothes ---

weak and ineffective.  Little God.  For
the wages of sin is ugly.  The cross
means suffering and pain.  The blood
means death but no one must  EVER
know about the life.  It would be best

if we could keep him young forever ---
don't let him grow up to die only to rise
again as the King of kings and Lord of
lords.  They'll bow to a Babe but not to
the Only Begotten of the Father, the

Hope for all mankind Who stepped
down from Heaven, Whose Name is
above all names.  We'll confuse the
Holy Days until they don't know what
to believe:  this is your assignment ....

We are just not cruxifying Christ anymore, but the newborn also, if we are to continue on the path we're on. Better would have been a shot to the head, but for the cruelty of man, and his handmaiden the devils princess. You stir up deep waters with this poem, and the dark ink you are using, well done Karla! WOW Karla! Excellent!
It might seem like he's winning now,
but soon the tables will be turned and then
every knee will bow and every tongue will confess
that the Most High living Christ is Lord! AMEN!
Brava!

Okay. Damnit, Karla, you have gone and outdone yourself this time. You have the beginning of a novel in these words, I have written novels with less inspiration. Wrote "My Mother's Revenge" after hearing a line in a Mere Haggard song, "I'm the only one that really loved you." I am impressed and happily so. Kicking ass and taking names these days, my friend . . .

KARLA - well done, and quite poignant.

There is a time and a season, and a reason for everything. Everything now existent had to BEGIN somewhere. Before Christ could be crucified, he had to live first, he had to be Born!
The Nativity is therefore paramount to the beginning of the story of The Life.

At the time, the devil's minion was Herod - The Slaughter of The Holy Innocents! Had The Magi obeyed, and told him, the Babe would have been murdered - there would have been No STORY! Contrast this with the Chorus of Angels singing Allelujah - Tidings of Great Joy!

Like the cycle of every human life - Birth - Death - HE did the whole thing!

EASTER - THE RESURRECTION - is the paramount GOOD NEWS! And has its appropriate place on the calendar - RE-BIRTH !!! SPRING-TIME!

ERGO - let us CELEBRATE THE BEGINNING NOW -
ADESTE FIDELIS ... O COME ALL YE FAITHFUL ...
JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT ...

and devil be DAMNED! PEACE & GOODWILL ... Tom.

Great write! Too many of us try to keep him young. We don't want to get to the demands of the Sermon on the Mount.

Well penned, Karla. I may sound heartless but why do we lie to our childten about "Santa Clause". The "Christmas tree" etc. I did it too. But I think it would be just as easy to tell them about JESUS. Maybe if we did there would be less violence in the world.

GOD BLESS
Tony

Dan,

Changed the last line to 'this is your assignment.' Think it's more effective, coming from the devil to one of his minions. And methinks you're sadly right. Thank you for reviewing, and you too, Karen, and all who read. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
