The night exploded, again, again!
in bombs of light and sound. I
breathed in the smoke but didn't
smell death --- only wonderment.
They knocked on the walls of my
soul, synchronized my heart to
their time and shook the ground
under my back, these pyrotechnic
blooms that filled my eyes ablaze
with color and beauty, and a little
sadness, too --- it's too bad they
won't last as long as memories ...

I like your poem because it reminds me of when I was a child and thought Fourth of July Fireworks were the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. (After all, I was just a little farm girl who had never seen much of anything except nature and green plants growing.) Beautiful poem, Karla.
