My mama's been here one week now and I still need someone to pinch me and tell me I'm not dreaming. I have missed seeing her for six long years...now I don't want her to return to Cameroon. But I know she must return for I am not the only one who loves her beyond words...she has the touched the lives of countless people who sing her praises to me and it brings tears to my eyes to hear even strangers call her "Mama" for in their lives she has been nothing but an angel.
I woke up this morning
to see on the dining table, a pair of glasses between the pages of the Holy Bible Mama’s here! Would I ever get enough of your stories?
Would you ever know how much I adore you?
To tuck you in at night and plant a lingering kiss on your cheek
Read poems I wrote for you every night before you retire
Just in case, so that you remember how much I love you, even in dream
that you are cherished and thought of ever so tenderly Mama, don't go Don't stop laughing
it's music to my ears
Don't fret now
everything will be all right
As I apply some lip gloss on your lips today
and flatter the makeup with your beautiful face
I want you to know
every one of these moments is captured
in my little book of lovelies buried deep within my heart
you've done a fine job, Mama, bringing me up
you've done a mighty fine job at that
but better yet is your precious breath
and even much more so is your lovely voice when you call me "My child"
how did I get so blessed to have the greatest woman on earth be my mother?

mine, my mother
Do you know how special you are?
How indispensible you are to those lives you've touched and continue to touch?
Everywhere I go they call you "mama", "Angel", "La donna Diana"
I am more than proud
I am most honored to have come from your womb
you are blessed, singled-out by the hands of God
for a heart like yours could only have come from above
fearless woman, fiery warrior, tender friend
Be here to stay and never ever leave me
for I will honor you all the days of my life...
I believe Motherhood is like no other experience in the world, and more than once I have been envious of their exhaulted stations in life.
Almost without exception, a Mother can't help but have total and unconditional love for her child. Most often that same total and unconditional love flows back to her, but not nearly often enough does the child openly share the knowledge of its love with its mother.
In writing from the heart and in publicly sharing your love for your mother, my dear Bernice, you have honored her in a very special and tender way.

Your words for your mom are precious and timeless, spanning your life and hers. It is evident that she is the one who groomed you, inspired you, and the one for whom you hold the deepest gratitude.
