wet, snow, sleet and strong wind blew across the central oregon desert

Poem Artwork

the heart opens
            then closes

like the breath
            it breathes

wild and nearly wicked
the winds of March
             Blow in

howling and relentless
near agony of season change
the quiet still of winter
unleashes now within

whence new spring has birthed
something, squealing into survival
the earth blankets itself around
this mornings wet arrival

the heart opens
            then closes

like the breath
            it breathes

calming and nearly proper
the winds of March
            Blow in

Can associate all too well as here in Nova Scotia I got out of hospital today to another snowstorm that made it look more like Christmas than spring..lol

This weather is replicated here in UK too.You have captured the essence admirably..'new spring has birthed something, squealing into survival'...the difficult birth of the new season...Love, Diana.

This is a very "felt" poem, Debby. There is such a sensitivity in it and the internal rhyme is in harmony with the way it breathes. The form and picture add to the duallism of winter versus spring.... and our place within the elements. TY Kate xx

Cheer up Debby, while you were soaking that liquid sunshine over there in the desert, we had snow in Seaside, imagine, tourists down on the beach taking photos of their day at the beach for Spring Break.

Cheers,
Dan
