Poem Artwork

crisp cheeks, crisp apples
autumn’s glaze upon the bushes
a wondrous time for many
who embrace the seasons change

but alas I go not graceful
into its layers of long sleeves
replacing my sandals for
shoes and socks

unpacking wool throws
replacing screens with windows
sigh, it is the in-between
the days of almost and no more

cloudy skies and frosty winds
drizzle and peek a boo sunshine
now I see you and now I don’t
the days of warmth grow slim

one day  I’ll scent that warming fire
and taste the spice of  apple cider
curl up comfy in my woolen sweater
and know the almost fall is now

and I’ll surrender in a peaceful smile
daydreaming thoughts of its sienna splendor
Halloween and thankfulness before
complaining…winter will come too soon

Well we'uns on the North Oregon Coast went directly from early spring to late fall...fact is we're forecasting snow on Halloween, now I've got to get back to shoveling the sidewalk.

Very cool write,
Cheers,
Dan

I've been preparing too...it's still the in-between season here. Too warm for long sleaves and too cool for short sleeves...so I've been doing the layering thing. But I must admit that fall and spring are my two favorite times of the year, well other than when a beautiful snow blankets the mountains and no one has to rush out to work, everyone safe at home with a warm fire and a pot of stew or beans....let's just face it...we love life and every aspect that comes with it, be it summer when we can kick our shoes off and stroll through the soft grass, winter when we can snowball fight, fall when we pick pumpkins and enjoy all the wonderful fall aromas, or spring when everything comes to life. Enjoyed this much, a great reminder for me that winter will be coming soon and there are those days of ice and dangerous driving that lurks. But also a great reminder of how much I appreciate every day that is given to me. Enjoyed! Didn't mean to ramble on and on and on..................................
Blessings from Ky.

This is such a warm inviting poem that makes me just want to curl up there under that comforter and watch the fire with you. Well done, and toasty warm.

That couch seems to have place for two, and I can waggle my tail like a little puppy dog for a sip of cider, what do you say? start putting that fireplace going!

Deb,

Beautifully written, and makes us remember a few things. For although we revel in Autumn's glory, we sometimes forget the coming of the cold winter nights.
