Gentle Manisfestation

Poem Artwork

It drifts

in tranquil dance,

as though on fairy wings,

blanketing the ground in

hushed silence.

For a few fleeting moments,

the earth lay clean, unspoiled,

seemingly cleansed of her sins,

in this hallowed layer of white,

all too quickly trampled and tarnished.

However, a mission is accomplished…

a reminder has been left…

for those eyes which do more than

glimpse through kitchen windows

on snowy winter mornings.

Some things don't last long, and yet they seem to be there to remind us that things can be different, pure, worth looking at...
I like that "hallowed layer of white", quite meditative.

I love the hushed silence that winter's snowfall brings. I don't know what it is about it that brings that special feeling, but I am grateful that every now and then the world is "cleansed" with it...

Nicely done, Dawn. My niece lives in Colorado and has sent me pictures of a snowed-over landscape that are breathtaking.

Th following lines describe its purity very well:
"For a few fleeting moments,
the earth lay clean, unspoiled,"

I know this feeling well, for it is the same thought I always have after a snowfall...how purified the earth seems and fresh and clean...then along comes that darn snowplow. Sometimes I wish we could just shut the roads down for like a few days and just enjoy it without the mess that we tend to make of it.
