Hope you all had a great weekend. This poem was a prompt write from Bianca B - Write a Nonet about Rain.
Wishing you all a great day.
Hugs, Trish
Rain – A Nonet
Pounding rain beats down heavily on
Baby kittens stranded outdoors,
While the mother searches for
Food, before returning to
Her hungry litter
Of meowing
Little voices
That cry
Loud.
Stalking garbage cans in dark alleys,
The mother seeks for nourishment
In stale fish, liver cans, and
Old sour milk spills to help
Sustain her brood, as
Her owner glances
Through sheets of
Dancing rain
Drops.
Satisfied, the mother and kittens
Snuggle up warmly together
In a tattered old worn box
Beside the building of
The local dairy and
Wait for morning,
So fresh cream
Will feed
Them.
And for fun – a Nonet reversed – LOL!
As
The cold
Cruel weekend
Passes away, and
A new day brightens
A little family of
Stray kitten’s chances for
Survival, in the disposable
World of the neglectful human being.
Trish your compassionate heart is showing in this one so I can't call you trickster or trishwitch;-)(but I can sneak it in;-) hehehe
Wonderful poem you da woman!
Trish I really do enjoy your work, this was a sad pleasure to read, you are so masterful with form. Touched my heart, I love cats and have rescued quite a few. Great write.
Trish, Good Morning! I have a new kitty and I just can't imagine throwing him out into the weather. Even as playful and mean as he is, I still couldn't discard him like that.
Sometimes I'm not sure how our animal friends manage to survive our cruelty.
Good write Trish.
