Poem Artwork

A lilting melody drifted past the stars and echoed in the midst

of the cold winter night -  warming it up with its enchanting tune.

The bitter and biting snow flew on the wings of the north wind

as the clouds fitfully covered the face of the silver-white moon.

The crescent moon sailed out of the clouds and into the heavenly sky –

brightening the night with its gentle light that hinted at the snowy mound

that covered the sleeping earth with its soft white blanket and

blurred the starkness of the trees and the absence of color on the ground.

By a window, an angel played the lyre and began the melody of this night.

She played with tenderness that filled the sky with its gentleness and love.

Stars bent down to the earth to listen to her play and dance in time

and the moon drifted down closer to better hear her than it could from up above.

Soft and sweet was the tune she played as flowers bloomed at her feet.

Gentle and calmly the snow floated down to the ground.

Caressing was the breeze that bumped the clouds from the moon

and everything that once was lost was again found.
