February 24, 2022 I did not know about Ukraine 

A war started

 

A birthplace of historic land and gorgeous cities

Of incredible mountains

 

A place that holds gracious and friendly people 

A warm firm handshake
Or perhaps
Three kisses on the cheek

 

Casual manners but true  

Rude to eat and not offer

 

Upon the times of great fighting

For independence

Stalin*s famine 

4 million starved

Extermination

Belief in country 

Belief in each other

Ukrainian woman that speaks of nightly bombs

With tears in her eyes

Fall out shelters
Is Fear
Of loss

Kind and smart women

Always to support

She is going through this with me
