When I grew up on the Canadian prairies, the Canada geese were a sign of spring and fall. It was extremely moving to hear their calls and to watch them fly way overhead. We rarely saw them up close since we were not far enough north where they spend the summer. When we moved to British Columbia, there were no Canada geese to be seen. However, this has completely changed. Now, they're everywhere and they are messy. So I have mixed feelings about them. These birds here don't seem wild at all and they stay here the year round.
