Very unique similes in this poem, Regis. I can relate to this one. A few years back, my life revolved around my hubby. Then I rediscovered writing again, and suddenly I had my identity back. Losing yourself in another feels good but it's dangerous, too. In that "desert" we must always keep our thirst in check. Love and Hugs,
Sheila
Oh This Is Lovely Regis, and to loose ourselves in another can be a Beautiful awakening especially if we are then found in doing so. This poem is like the feeling of True Love.
I have been lost in another many times, and left pieces of myself there, but I also took a charishable piece of them with me when the promise was broken within Love's Heart.

Join the club, Regis! Love is so uncertain, yet nothing draws us into deeply unknown, unchartered waters, like a new love, because a new love promises a new beginning!

if you love you cannot get lost ..just enjoy the time you have with this person..it does not have to be forever..forever is in reality the NOW you're in..so ..hmm..it's OK..lose yourself in her..YES!!!
Simply-Stated and Clearly-Understood. To be an Individual through it all is a pentence of time. A Lost of Oneself in the pict. Perfect! Thank you Regi. HuGs-Lady,Sheee

The biggest problem with losing oneself in another is we lose our identity and also lose the very qualities that attracted the other party to us. Though it feels so good to get lost in another, it generally dooms the relationship. Always be true to self. Good job, Regis.

So much in this, Regis... self-knowledge of a romantic and very giving heart and soul that yield themselves so willingly, together with an objective realisation that this may be but a beautiful mirage. You sound like a traveller who has already learned much from other desert experiences, but one who is accrueing wisdom and beauty of character from each visit, and not becoming hardened with cynicism or scepticism. Romantics, I think, are not oblivious to reality, but are those imbued with an inner strength who allow themselves to take the risks notwithstanding the potential for pain or disillusion. It's a life of uncertainty which maybe the realists would not take... but therein also lies the potential for growth, expansion and expression. Keep travellin on, keep learning, keep loving cos your openness bathes all our souls with hope and especially with a tenderness. Vulnerability and honesty are to be most cherished of personal qualities. You have these in abundance. And such a person is never without the many who would glady "be there" to help mend the wounds should you fall! To live is to love and to love is to live... you do both to the full! Bless you, Kate xx

Regis, the simplicity of the words are, nevertheless, packed with the kind of emotion that we all recognize. You've given pen to a recurring impact that invades we who fall hard.
You are so obviously a very romantic man... and that suggests the kind of pain we never seem to learn from... as we do it again and again.
This is a masterpiece in its human insight. One of my favorites... especially love the last few lines. katy xox

Regis... your verse is so delicate yet so powerful... I always enjoy reading.. thank you for being so kind to me over all this time; I've been slammed with exams and papers and softball, and unfortunatly the thing that went first was my poetry... or at least posting it and enjoying other poet's pieces... but I did miss it, and will never completely be able to fall away from this place.
Hope all is well, you still hold your gift and use it well I see...

Regis,
This is very eloquent and the honesty about it makes it feel a bit fragile. Pure is the word that comes to my mind about this poem. Being lost in someone CAN be the best sensation in the world and to be able to decribe it so well that your reader FEELS it, must be the second best sensation.....Robin
Beautiful write, Regis, but losing oneself, entirely, in someone else can be somewhat of a curse in its own right. If the person is true, then it can be a wonderful thing, but if the person is not completely honest with you or chooses to use you for whatever reason, it can be a nightmare. I've lived through this, both ways and learning to trust and building that trust so that it is sturdy is essential. Good luck to you and congrats on a fabulous write!
Jill
Dearest Regis,
Another beautiful introspective poem written out of the deepest recesses of your sensitive heart. To lose yourself to love is to gain. Never regret feeling love even if it ends in pain. Rather be grateful that you knew to love and have the capacity to love again. I wish you the realisation of all of your dreams. You deserve only happiness. May your heart rise again in joy.

Only a man can see a beautiful woman in sand dunes; huh Ed? (Giggles). Anyway Regis, this is a very deep poetic venture. And yes, it is really easy to lose oneself in someone else. That is what is meant by the term soul mates. I have been lost, but never lost in someone else. thxn for sharing bro. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you, and at your side constantly. with much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie
Is that you standing on or about her belly button in the picture, it may be sanddunes, but it looks all the world like a nicely tanned, flowing body...if it is you, move just a bit further down to the right, therein you will find a cave of pungent odor and know exactly where you are...Ed
love is a little like walking into a desert sandstorm, blinded by passion, never certain whether it will be an oasis dream or lead to a deeper truth. as you said so well, time will tell. all good things to you, Dawn
A beautiful poem I love the tree form. Regis, I hope for your sake it is love returned. Being lost in someone else means you put off living your own life. Your every move seems to depend upon what they do. It is not the way we were meant to live. It only works when both feel the same way then each are caring more for the other than themselves and it equalizes. All the best to you!
Yes it does feel like that and I think we have all felt the sinking feeling of pure elation that comes with falling for someone so hard it is all we can do to walk without stmbling. Well done Regis.
