Dreamwoods' Song

“Dreamwoods” is the name of my brother and sister-in-law’s bed and breakfast in the Crowsnest Pass near Coleman, Alberta, Canada. As with most forest abodes, the magical woodland location inspires whimsical thoughts.

Poem Artwork

Dreamwoods' Song

Waiting in the woods
Sitting on the forest floor
Looking for dwarves, elves,
Pixies, gnomes and fairies
Rustle of aspen

Wishing in the woods
Sleeping on the forest floor
Dreaming of dwarves, elves,
Pixies, gnomes and fairies
Fragrance of cedar

Waking in the woods
Rising from the forest floor
Seeing dwarves, elves,
Pixies, gnomes and fairies
Aroma of pine

Walking in the woods
Treading on the forest floor
Talking with dwarves, elves,
Pixies, gnomes and fairies
Murmur of maple

Working in the woods
Tilling well the forest floor
Toiling with dwarves, elves,
Pixies, gnomes and fairies
Whisper of hemlock

Waltzing in the woods
Dancing on the forest floor
Singing with dwarves, elves,
Pixies, gnomes and fairies
Magic of Dreamwoods

I've read a lot about pines, maples, cedar, aspen, not so much hemlock, in your poetry pieces, ,and the forests you describe is the Magic of Dreamwoods, it would be so nice to visit that bed and breakfast, but i'll probably never get to that area of the woods.

I love this fantasy piece, Reg...and liked the natural progression it seemed to follow from wishing and dreaming about the wee folk, to encountering, befriending and celebrating with them in the dreamwoods. Lovely visuals and a delightful read! ~Hugs, Elizabeth

I lived in the mountains when I was a little girl and I played with all my invisible friends in the forest all of the time. I don't know if that's good considering my family back round, Regis LOL! I think the poem has that childlike quality we should never loose though.

There's magic inside this poem! These pixies, gnomes, dwarves, elves, and fairies are very darn picky about who they let write about them. Regis made a deal with Belaine of the Hawthorn, the woodland sprite who is a mortal seeking life's meaning. The deal is that Regis will instill the love of beauty---beauty in nature to the child sprite and the ladybug.

and the rhythm that the repetition creates. I, too, love to dream-walk through a forest; now that our weather has cooled, might head for the woods back thatway and look and look for faeries...dwarves...elves...pixies...leprechauns. . .whole passel~! Unless, after a quick haircut, you are he?!! :)) Love this, Regis, and, when I do my world tour in years to come, sounds like I shall have to get Dreamwoods full address from you... definitely NOT to be missed... particularly if THIS is what comes with it! Must be loads of pixie dust in the air over the North Atlantic at the moment! In UK - three guesses... drear drizzle, just for a change. Can't complain, I suppose... we had SUMMER yesterday! :)) Would love to hear you recite this one - can hear it in your wonderful "woody and resonant" French Canadian tones... LOL Kate xx
