"Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose." - Yoda "Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith" I haven't learned how to do that. I should also clarify that this is not the individual's fault but rather the doings of circumstance and society.
Before You
In the garden of memories The loveliness of flowers Has been stifled By the ugliness of weeds
I wonder what it was like Before you
In this haze of emotions I’ve quite forgotten the way it was Before you Before this affliction This disease This addiction This ceaseless ache This endless throbbing This gnawing in my soul This black hole In which I cast A million thoughts of you Shed myriad tears In futile effort To fill the boundless void
This poem is powerful, and highly emotional, and moving. It is effective in many ways. Readers will in some way connect to the content and draw something from it as well. Thank you for sharing. This to me is one of your best works.
Society can be cruel and heartless for society only cares for itself and has no conscious of the demise of another. They prey on the weak and the helpless as the never ending gossip to tear asunder a helpless victim.
WOW...WHAT A PLEA. GUT WRENCHING AND SO HUMBLE. I TELL YOU...IF ONE DID NOT RESPOND FAVORABLY TO THIS LAMENT...THEN ONE FORFEITED AN OPPORTUNITY TO TASTE 'GENUINE LOVE'...AND DOESN'T DESERVE IT...SO, LET GO!!! WELL DONE AND APPRECIATED, REGIS, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE AND BLESSINGS, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
(I haven't learned to do that either, Reg)... when there is a love such as this, it is difficult to remember that there was ever a 'time before you' and certainly is it painful and devastating to think of the 'time without you' ... also with such a love, I imagine their thoughts are much the same and so is their pain. I feel this. ~Hugs, Elizabeth
I find this poem very interesting, and can appreciate the message, powerful and poetic Regis. Be encouraged and thanks for sharing and caring! Keep on writing, you are a blessing!
Hi Regis, A boundless void I can feel in this write. Wait, maybe it's what I'm feeling in my own soul... you just write it out of me... now you know... thank you for sharing your parts of you...
I have a hard time commenting on this because I have always been of the theory that if someone doesn't love me, I am better off without them because we all deserve to be loved by someone who truly loves us. I think whenever we try to force things in life and love we tend to fool ourselves because sometimes they are the very things which are destructive to our lives and gone for a reason, one we will never see if we cling to romantic ideas of what might have been. Just my dumb opinion, lol Michelle
I've always wondered when someone affects you so greatly...how can it not be mutual? One of the bigger mysteries in life. Are feelings a one-way road or does traffic go both ways? A poem of sadness. This one proves that experiences and people change us greatly. We can only wonder if the reverse is true.... Hugs and Love:) Sheila

I admire your writing. This poem touched my soul. You have a heart that drifts into your writing making the reader absorb the words with thought. Beautiful work, this piece.
Thanks for this beautiful poem, Regis. You can say mountains more than I can about love in way fewer words than I am able to and that are so deeply felt by all of us. Is it just our human condition or now you have me thinking; does our love for someone sometimes become almost an addiction no matter how hard we try not to be that way? I fight with my feelings of love outside friendship so much and all I can say is that your work is "thought provoking" at the least and poignant to me at the most. Especially when you wrote, "I wonder
Would you spare a thought
For me?" Thanks for the love shared to all of us. Love from Meredith
This is very good, dear brother. You know the pains in my life, and the horrid way I have been treated. This poem brings back so many horrid memories. The Bellamy Brothers, said it best tho, in their song, Some Broken hearts.
"Some broken hearts, never mend,
some memories never end,
some tears will never dry,
my love for you will never die."
Because the most important part of my life was stolen from me, my heart will never mend, because my bittersweet memories will never end, as I continue to cry a waterfall of tears. It is so hard to forget, because I have been forbidden to live, and be happy and carefree. Thnx for sharing, Regis.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Powerful a n d poignant. This is a poem to treasure and share. Who cannot relate? Bless you for having the heart to write it. Someone very dear to me will read it and weep with gratitude one day. Now is not the time, but she is strong, and the day will come. Peace and Love and the Deepest Admiration, 'Pea'
I've felt this before, I think...and it does feel like such a black hole when you give and give and give, and they accept and accept and accept...without giving
back.
well written, Regis. definitely truly felt, and expressed.
super cool Regis,
smooth to read and very good poeming

down right alarming,
and quite charming
at the end it's still arming,
makes one want to share many thoughts
It's hard to let go of that which won't let go of you... like situations that induce panic, it's funny though, that the minute you relax, often the solution comes and the circumstances resolve... or at least appear less acute. There is nothing lonelier than being both stroked and manipulated by often "hidden" obsessions day and night... being a compulsive obsessive I know something about this! :)) This is a magnificent poem that paints accurately the picture of emotional distance that has difficulty in knowing where the realities lie - inside or outside of one's own head. An interesting conundrum, perhaps, based on your quote above... in this situation maybe it is our own self that we most fear to lose - whether that be in the form of identity or our concrete mind; giving up our selves in preference to the needs of others sounds wholly altruistic, but, in fact, is self-healing, too. And, ironically, often we "find" ourselves in this way, too. Sorry, this is a complete warble, but your poem throws up so many interesting thoughts and I greatly love this Hall of Mirrors and this Fractured Glass, Regis. Thank you for this cathartic write. Bless you. LOL Kate xx

Painful write Regis. Some people think if you have to ask then you already know the answer; no. But I don't agree. Sometimes insecurity is simply that. And it takes a loving, patient partner to help us out of the negative self talk. ~ Sara

I can feel this too Regis. This is a part of life and it is so hard to deal with and let go. Sometimes I think we hold on to this because of the fear of getting involved with someone else and getting hurt again. Once again, your writing has touched my heart and leaves me with a tear rolling down my cheek. Another awesome poem you have shared with us.

Regis an uplifting & comforting your compassion.poem wonderful work I agree most of the time the fear comes from our surroundings, happenings, and society wonderful work thank you for posting this one.
This poem combined perfectly with the graphic draws the reader in and lets him become a part of the romance the writer describes and feel the emotional turmoil he struggles with. To me a sign of a great work.
Letting go is divine, forcing us to have faith in the future, something we hope for and cannot see. But if we could see the future, we'd never grow to trust God's plan. And I'm certain glad that God isn't as fickle as the creature called "man." (or woman of course.)
Just be thankful for now, and the rest will take care of itself if you plan.
blessin's Bro. Regis, keep sharing your honest heart.

Letting go-one of the hardest lessons in life and one, like you, I am learning Regis. Having greived "what could have been", I find joy
in "what is". Such sweet blessing comes with loving ourselves. I think this is at the heart of letting go. Why do we hold on to something that is so painful? Do we think that pain is a
measure of our love? Certainly sacrifice for the good of another, but not pain. Rejoice that this love has shown you the depths of your own loving heart, bless what it has given you and then blow it away. This will leave your heart open to love again-the love you fully deserve. Peace on your journey, dear friend...Love, Lin
I too have to agree with Sherry, a combination of things that brings us to such desolation when our love is not returned. I know the feeling of total emptiness with that of self disgust for feeling that we couldn't keep that which we so loved. I learned that it isn't always that simple. Superb write Regis...
Excellent images, Regis, though such a dark-blue write. I often wonder if we hurt for the loss of the other or if we hurt for what we lost of ourselves when they went away. I think there is a certain amount of humiliation and assumed personal failure wrapped up in losing someone we love so very much and also the question of why would they walk away from a person who loved them so unconditionally, why couldn't they love us as we loved them...could it be that we didn't love them well enough or perhaps are we unlovable or simply unworthy of their love? Once we understand that it was not about us, that we gave all that we had, that we did our very best, that what we gave was good and understand that the decision to change things wasn't ours, only then can we begin to heal. Some people never learn to accept love, and when we love them with all of our heart it is like binding them in chains, force-feeding them a potion that they don't wish to take, as well as causing them to feel guilt for not being able to return to us the love what we so freely give to them. The other person is probably living in the same miserable situation that you found them in and finding a certain amount of security there. You, on the other hand, mourn for a love that you never owned, and a person whom you are probably better off without, though that is always a very bitter pill to swallow. I often wonder if we hang on to the one we have lost so that we won't allow ourselves to heal enough to love another? It is very easy to identify with the feelings expressed in this offering, Regis. I think we have all been in this situation at least once in our life, be it through the breaking off of a relationship or a death within one. Excellent poem!
Take care,
Sherry
This is very powerful Reg. Perhaps "someone" besides your AD friends should read it, if you know who I mean and I think you do. This is a beautiful, raw, emotional write...Love you, Michelle
