My friend
you are sliding down
the slippery slope
of delusion and
fantasy ignoring
reality staring you
in the face
you do not even see
the shreds of truth
speeding by with
increasing velocity
as you seemingly obliviously
fall like a feather on the wind
eventually lands
on the cold and rugged earth
i am afraid for you
i hold out my hand
to you please
grasp it before
it is too late
my friend

Nicely said, Regis. Sometimes it's easier to whittle the time away in our fantasies rather than face trials. Your offer of friendship in this poem says a lot about you. Being a friend means forcing someone to see the truth as well as offering support - which can be difficult to do when you care for someone. Hugs~

Only sincere friends can offer such a hand but when the receiving end has no eyes to see the looming danger or has no heart to face truth then nothing could be done to save someone from sliding into the sands of horror and despondency. As usual I liked this one very much. Great poem

Reminds me of climbers tethered together on a sheer rock face... the trust and vulnerability; the love and mutual commitment; the strength, determination and loyalty in this situation of co-dependence. The best of friendships are just that, Regis, as you so amply demonstrate here. Words we may often not wish to have to hear... but a true friend tells us what is needful irrespective of the risk of love lost. As such, love will only deepen as a result, if the friendship is true and also one of mutual respect. I am delighted by this. Succinct and powerfully visual. LOL K xx

ahhh, regis, are you speaking to ME?? heh heh, bet there's lots of us who might think the same. I've found that friends or not-friends alike usually do not want to listen to any warnings. Sometimes I speak up anyway.

As a piece of writing... I LIKE this one. It flows; the imagery is wonderful, gives the mind's eye something along with the concept. Nicely done.

Most of all, I appreciate your heart. It beats with love for us all.
