It’s Not My Fault
 

It can’t be helped
You don’t know
Where the asteroid will strike
Where the hurricane will land
Where the tornado will touch
When the earth will tremble
When the avalanche will awaken
When the volcano will rouse
Where the rainbow will be born
Where rain will bless the thirsty land
Where the snow will soothe my soul
When I fell in love with you
It can’t be helped.

How beautifully right you are, Reg! Whether it's the chemistry mixture that is just right, or cupid's arrow hitting it's mark, once overwhelming love hits us, there is no turning back...and that's a wonderful event in our lives! Kudos to you, friend, for this poetic explanation of love...

This poem is screaming to keep going. The last two lines seem abrupt and do not close the poem. The title does not do this poem justice. The point I get from the poem is that love is comparable to nature. Nature can be random and elements can erupt or move at anytime. It is uncontrollable. With telling what is unknown, the closing needs to something that is known. An expression of how natural the love is and how uncontrolled the speaker is.

Excellent, Regis, not enough written these days about the mystery of love that finds us just as the storms seek us out. Most stuff seems to concentrate on one-night stands as though any old discovery that we seek out will do just fine. Thanks for putting the element of love back in love....Jerry

Love this heartfelt write! and it's true, sad to me at the moment, my sister is in love with my EX of 19yrs. Her Nieces Uncle! It's going on a month and I'm hoping for a change! and realization into FAMILY! Their are more fish in the sea, if you allow yourself to be, I told her! My feelings for her are not strong!

But I think that if we had that ability, much of the sweetness and flavor that we expect from life would be lost...so it's not a design flaw by any means. Incredible piece. The question is: Does life lead us to where it wants us to be, or where we want it to be? Your poem states a fact, we don't know so many things that can, will, or could effect our lives. A thoughtful write.
