I have had that aftershock; many times I was not successful becoming engaged with the shocker, but they were someone to behold--as we all are.
never know when it's going to hit you or how, but thats what makes it so special. then memories of the first time stay with you for a lifetime. enjoy my friend, just as i enjoyed reading your words.

Your image and qualities fill my soul
With the need of you"
"Aftershock" is exactly what I had in mind, Regis. One glance, and your feet are set in concrete and you can't breathe! I absolutely love those moments. For me, even the aftershock is delightful.
Another aftershock in life is I'm 76 and nothing's changed. Hallelujah! If an "aftershock" is my transitioning moment, I'll consider myself blessed beyond belief.
Simple and profound. Fabulous, Regis!

I had a few moments so thought I'd browse through AD and see what I might have missed first time around. I'm so glad I did. This poem is really fabulous -- simple, and yet profound. I often stop to wonder about those "Two minutes either way, before or after " moments that have changed my life, many times without my even knowing it.

This is lovely, R. I like the part about the rainbow, thunder, earthquake. It is these moments, including their aftershock, that keep us young, n'est-ce pas? I don't believe in fate, meant-to-be, or any of that. I believe in randomness, in chance. The choice is ours if we decide to take that chance or not. One of my favorite short stories of all time -- perhaps my favorite, is "The Beast in the Jungle," by Henry James. It is about a man who waits his whole adult life for something great to happen to him; meanwhile.......well, just read it! How do you have so many readers and reviewers, young man????
