My favourite colour is blue; but black is a close second...
Blue
There's a myriad of blues
The blue of the sky
The blue of the sea
The blue of the mountains
The blue of the blood in my veins
The blue of the dusk and the dawn
The blue in your eyes when you're here
Blue on the edge of black
Barely blue but blue nonetheless
Black and blue like bruises
Of a sad and battered soul
Blue like the music of blues
Bittersweet and darkling blue
Like thoughts of you
That gradually fade to black
My deceased Tom would never wear his blue shirts. He had some in the closet, and I 'd ask him to wear them, well - he just ignored me. I finally got him to wear blue jeans after a struggle.
Regis, you are Blessed ! This poem is filled with truths and written with such creativity....beautifully written ! I really enjoyed reading Blue, as I do all of your work ! May Abba Father continue
Bless and strengthen you each day ! Be encouraged Regis! Thank you
for your encouraging words!
Love the intensity of this poem, Regis. For me, the message is much deeper towards the end, and that's where your words resonate with that sense of longing and/or sadness I often see in your work. Great writing. Love and hugs,
Sheila
Cher Regis,Je vois que vous aimez le bleu et peut etre les cheveux blonds. Anyway I like these:
Bittersweet and darkling blue
Like thoughts of you

There is a growing intensity in this poem. In a way, I agree with Lena's vision, but I also like it the way it is. My favorite part is when you move from a visual emotion ("barely blue but"...) to a completely emotional interpretation of the color ("like bruises of a sad and battered soul").
The poem is beautiful and emotionally moving. It flows like the gentle stream... I enjoyed it a great deal.
I would change only one thing in the poem... I would get rid of the first four lines of the poem. While those four lines are about the color blue they don't quite seem to fit with the poem and its flow. Getting rid of them makes the poem more affective, makes it stronger even. Try reading the poem with those first four lines and then try reading it without the first four lines and you will see the difference. Hope this helps.
Isn't all too often the truth Reg? The few times I flew over the Rocky mountains I could see exactly where they got "for purple mountians majesty..." from. They are so pretty from 33,000 feet in the air. This is a very good poem with a realistic ending. Thank you for sharing Reg.

Regie, you could possibly write for the Bluesfest a few tunes?
Certainly bundles up this colour in a nice poetic inspiration,
still I wonder, why you love blue so much? Bless ya! Jasmin Horst
I hate being blue–so I sing the blues–it cheers me up. You have really covered blue beautifully with this monochromatic theme. It is interesting that beautiful blue water sky and somehow be turned into a melancholy feeling. But human emotion is so complex we end up using colors to describe it.
'Black and blue like bruises of a sad and battered soul'...'Bittersweet and darkling blue like thoughts of you'------ VERY BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SENTENCES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Liana Margiva
I'll take that as a positive thought as you fade off to a blissful night's rest after taking off your blue suede shoes and slipping beneath your blue velvet sheets. Patrick

A wonderful ride through the myriad colors of blue. Soulful. I love the last three lines... so deep and introspective. A wonderful and thought provoking read. Very, very good, Regis. Love and best wishes, Joy

You captured so many ways to be, and have blue in this poem. Wonderful.

Wonderful write. Blue is an odd color. It can make you happy, yet so sad. Peace and love.
