Good writing, I can always smell when it's about to snow, and feel the atmosphere of it, love the rain on the roof sound, always get sad when the robins fly south, and glad when they return about March. But fortunately, Fall is a beautiful season with its many splendid coloring, fall fairs, fall foods and it's a great leader for Winter to show up behind it.
Autumn is a favorite time of the year, summer, i have a hard time dealing with for memories I just don't want to walk across my mind,
beautiful poem Regis, you really know how to get to the soul
This is now my favorite poem of yours. Such beautiful imagery and feelings. Perfect Haiku form, Old Basho would have enjoyed seeing these Autumn Tears.
You're most beautiful descriptions pulled us in, let us feel and touch the beautiful (maybe a little sadness too) at the sound of raindrops, falling leaves, and the changing seasons. Very enjoyable.
Exquisite and true to nature...you paint your canvas with precise strokes and vivid colours, Regis. I see the golden leaves, listen to the vent mauvais of Verlain, and feel the silent anticipation of the first snowfall...
"In the meadow we can build a snowman, then pretend that he is Parson Brown, he'll say are you married, we'll say no man, but you can do the job when you're in town."
I love that song, a I love the winter even though now it is more of a hassle than anything else. But I remember the winters in Michigan's Upper Peninsula when I was growing up. These haikus brought back those memories. Thank you Reg for the smile you gave me today. Happy New Year.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those that you love and that love you, may He be with you always and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth and ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie.
I want to be there...I want to be there so much...I can only dream of it...what a totally beautiful poem and picture you painted for me...merry christmas Regis..hugs from Kay
When I started reading this poem I didn't realize this was a collection of haikus on one topic because each stanza seemed to flow from one to the next smoothly.
In one of your haikus you refer to winter as HE. Why is that? Just curious if that is a typo or a specific reason for it? I am used to winter being referred to as IT.
Love the visuals :-)
Sorry I have been so absent Regis. So much going on and my brain is trying to learn to focus more and be more disciplined!!!! ha ha ha:-)
Hope you are doing well.
There is restlessness
On the outer edge of fall
Where winter awaits
This is a fabulous haiku-montage, Regis, but this one, in particular, strikes me as encapsulating of the whole. Light and mystical and full of feeling. xx
A BEAUTIFUL SHAWL, EXPRESSLY MADE FOR THE FALL, AND RESTS 'COMFORTABLY' ON ONE'S SHOULDERS...ENTWINING AND DISPLAYING THE AWESOME 'MOVEMENT' OF COLORS AND MOODS THAT IS...AUTUMN. WELL DONE AND ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Very beautiful and well observed: the expectant melancholia of fall, the unrest, the stirring, the heaviness. I remember these from that part of my childhood which I spent in the western hemisphere.
"there is restlessness - on the outer edge of fall - where winter awaits"...Regis this is a masterful piece of work establishing expectations from an omen..."the restlessness"... all are worthy reading and the one I have quoted extra special to this den friend... I bid you love, joy and peace...Jon Michael
Reg, This is absolutely gorgeous poetry, my friend...so appropriate for so many of us. Winter can be just beautiful and refreshing as that snow falls...
You've ushered out all the fault, regret and sorrow of another year grown older, soon to be frozen in time. I feel the mood watching the cold rain fall outside my window.

On the outer edge of fall
Where winter awaits
May your pen ever shine!
By the frozen pond
The wind is playing a harp
In the brittle reeds

High quality is this!
The birds have fled south
Winter has begun his siege
The woods are silent
I noticed this silence as I walked the wood just yesterday with my dogs.
A perfectly penned poem for the changing of the seasons--no end to your talent!!
All the best!!

The leaves of the trees..."
and
"A disarray of snowflakes
Usher in winter"
are, for me, Regis, the outstanding lines
in what is a highly evocative work,
beautifully delivered.

Very evocative, Regis. Living in Cambodia, as I do, you make me homesick...for Autumn, that is, not Winter.
