Sometimes "Mother's Little Helper" needs to be excommunicated from the temple.
Because of the problems that arose from my not understanding my mood, and my spouse jumping to conclusions about why I was so sluggish *before* diagnosed with hypothyroidism, the anxiety I experienced needed not only prayer but medical intervention.
We poets can be quite "mental" and very sensitive at times, some of us even like to blame ourselves for the lack of world peace. When my son asked me if I was on antidepressants, hey, why lie?
He said, "Mom, you really need to be careful." And after much denial I started to realize everytime I'd have a "tiff" with my spouse, I'd reach for 1/2 a valium. A whopping .25 mg which basically keeps me sober, but tame enough to not got care much about how irritating men can be, just to see how much they can irritate their wives.
What I need is an on-call plane reservation to a writers retreat in Vermont. But since I'm still working on the business to provide that as one of my dreams, I did take my son's advice and look up "dangers of valium".
Even though the dosage was low, the price can be high because that sucker of a drug can have a half life of up to 200 hours before it leaves your bloodstream. I don't take them everyday, and they are helping me to cope. But they can be very easy to abuse since "mother's little helper" fits neatly in my purse. And it's an easy "avoidance" drug. What I suggest that, if you are a writer or person who has a creative outlet outside of sex, learn to sound off when you feel you are not being heard. And if it hurts someone's feelings. . . remember this:
They'll get over it. Feels much better to vent with attitude than to phase out uncontrollably with those cute little pink pills. If you do need something to help you with stress, try just getting the freak out of the way of your stress triggers, taking some deep breaths, getting plenty of light and telling the world to kiss your tush.
Then smile and be happy.
