Now I've seen 'everything'!!! 5/26/2007 3:15:26 AM
As some of you know, since I've been back in South Africa, I've been helping my daughter Candice launch her real estate business. I've had quite a few interesting experiences on the job... Thursday this week a bunch of us piled into a car for the open hours. This is always a lot of fun because it's our aim to see as many houses as we can within just a few hours. One of the places we had to visit was in a townhouse complex. We drove through the security gates to be greeted by the listing agent who waved us through. I thought it was a little unusual that she was not in attendance in the actual unit. We followed the sign boards until we got to the townhouse that was on show. My two male colleagues walked into the unit while I snapped photos from the outside. Candice decided not to view this particular property and stayed in the car (thankfully!!!)
When I entered into the unit, MC(one of my colleagues) whispered, "Don't go into the bathroom whatever you do."
Of course that was not the right thing to say to someone who is so inherently curious. I HAD to go into the bathroom after that. Before he could say another word, I walked swiftly down the passage and entered the bathroom. I might mention that the door was wide open. If it hadn't been, I would not have walked in I assure you. Anyway, what I saw in there rendered me immobile with shock. There in clear view in a glass shower cubicle was a man having a shower (I was going to say 'stark naked' but that would surely be obvious to readers). He was seemingly oblivious to all the agents coming in and out and didn't seem to be in the least bit shy. He actually had the nerve to smile cheekily at me. When I could regain my senses, I walked out and with eyes wide open asked MC what was going on. "He's the tenant and I don't think he wants the place to be sold. This is his way of protesting."
I confess we giggled all the way to the car. On our way out, I told the listing agent what was going on. She rolled her eyes and said, "What do you think I'm doing out here at the gate?"
Never a dull moment...
