It's been a LONG time...
Heavens to Betsy, I haven’t blogged since 2006. I’m not going to try and catch anyone up on my life since then because it probably wouldn’t be that interesting. Plus it’s a bit depressing. (If it depresses me, I KNOW it will depress you.)
And I suspect that as I prattle on in the days ahead, you’ll learn all you want to know about my crazy life because I’ll leak it here and there as I type it out.
The last time I blogged was right after most of my family died. I don’t think I ever realized how dark the world could be. I went to work, came home and went to bed. That was it for a very long time. I never want to revisit that kind of grief again. But surprisingly it helped me change in ways that I never expected.
It seems my writing has become more publishable. (Is that a word? Hmmm.) I couldn’t give it away before 2005, but now it seems more popular. I’ve been told that pain gives a writer’s thought process more depth.I don’t know about that, but it’s been a prolific consolation prize of sorts.I suppose I do have more life experience and empathy than I had before.
Mom moved to Florida and we hang out together a great deal. We all go to the same church and travel in the same circle of friends.I’m very glad that she’s here. It was so hard to be so far away from each other. It’s also easier for me to finally start healing after losing Dad. Mom is living in a new place where she never lived with him. We finally buried his cremains at Bay Pines Veteran’s cemetery in St Petersburg.
Doors have been closed, and new doors have opened.
Hubs and I are doing great. We love our life together and all is well. Of course every day there are curve balls…some of which I’ll be sharing with you as time goes by, but all in all we’re very blessed.
